HOLIDAY EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN

There are so many ways to celebrate the holiday season, but at the heart of them all is sharing joy with the people we love. Metro Detroit is full of opportunities to eat, sing, dance and shop our way to a wonderful wintertime. Here are some of the best holiday attractions happening around SINGH Apartment communities.

ROCHESTER

 

The Big, Bright Light Show

Through January 15, 2023.

Downtown Rochester

Continuing a beloved tradition, Downtown Rochester is a beacon of holiday cheer, illuminating its buildings and storefronts with sparkling holiday lights. The Big, Bright Light Show uses more than one million lights, providing the perfect backdrop for holiday dining and shopping. The show will be lit on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from now until January 15, 2023, and during the city’s Snow Glow Winter Festival event.

 

Kris Kringle Market

Friday, December 2 - Saturday, December 3, times vary

W. Fourth St. between Walnut and Main streets, Downtown Rochester

Celebrating its 15th year, Downtown Rochester’s Kris Kringle Market is a European style, open-air market featuring fresh greens and wreaths, handcrafted gifts, and specialty foods. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of holiday music, the aroma of roasted almonds and kettle corn and the ambiance created by tents adorned with garland and lights. Commemorative mugs filled with Gluhwein (hot spiced wine) will be available, along with hand-crafted beer from Rochester Mills Beer Co. Children can enjoy a visit with Santa Claus from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and can play in life-sized gingerbread houses throughout the festival.

AUBURN HILLS

Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

Friday, December 2, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

1827 N. Squirrel Road, Downtown Auburn Hills
 

Kick off the holiday season right with the lighting of Auburn Hill’s giant Christmas tree. The lighting takes place at 6 p.m. sharp, but there is plenty of holiday fun and festivities to enjoy throughout the evening, including live music and storytelling, character performances, and visits with Santa & Mrs. Claus!

Noel Night

Saturday, December 3, 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Midtown Detroit/Detroit Cultural Center

 

There is never a shortage of things to see and do at Noel Night, Detroit’s holiday open house. Now in its 48th season, the event features holiday shopping, family craft activities, and artist performances by local and national music, theatre, and dance groups. Noel Night has nearly 100 participating venues, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, College for Creative Studies, Wayne State University, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and Michigan Science Center, along with the area's historic churches, galleries, small businesses, restaurants, and bars.

Christmas in the Village

Saturday, December 3, 3 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Village Arts Factory, 50755 Cherry Hill Road, Canton, MI 48187

Get into the holiday spirit while you shop local at the Village Arts Factory. This free event features an indoors and outdoors artist market from Metro Detroit artists and boutiques, including a green market of wreaths and garland. While you’re there, enjoy hands-on cookie decorating and ornament making, food trucks, live musical performances, and live animals – including Santa’s alpacas.

Glenore Trails Aurora

This enchanting sensory experience takes visitors on a 1-mile stroll through an illuminated forest. The trail features intricate projections, story moments and interactive elements that are perfect for both families and adults. With so much to see, patrons should plan on spending 45 minutes to an hour to taking in the immersive wonderland.

A Holiday to Remember

Friday, December 9 - Sunday, December 11, times vary

215 W. Main St, Downtown Northville

Bundle up and head to Downtown Northville for a weekend of family-friendly holiday delights, including horse and carriage rides, live reindeer, a holiday unicorn, and surprise characters roaming about. Enjoy food from Slow’s BBQ and the Sweet Brew n Spice Café while listening to live music and strolling carolers.
